Creative coding in Early Years – Free CPD day for EYFS staff

Giving staff the SKILLS and CONFIDENCE to teach children coding as a LANGUAGE

A Professional Development Day for Pre-School and Foundation Stage Staff
– Hosted by Tom Mylne, Head of Streatham & Clapham Prep

Date: Friday June 16, 9.30am-3.30pm, lunch included

Venue: Streatham & Clapham High School – Nursery & Prep School site, Wavertree Road, London SW2 3SR

The day will include:

  • An introduction to coding and mama.codes
  • Creative Coding for Pre-School and Foundation Stage
  • Demonstrations by pupils of different age groups
  • A practical session in small groups
  • Q&A and discussion session

Our speakers/trainers on the day are Liane Katz and Tarun Varma. Liane Katz is co-founder of
mama.codes, which offers a programme of step-by- step projects and simple training for school use, with additional resources available to families. Liane has over 15 years’ experience in digital fields, including app production, product management and digital consultancy. She was recently recognised for her contribution to digital in the 2017 BIMA 100 list.

Tarun Varma is passionate about keeping early coding education creative and physical. He has
previously worked with Cubetto, the screen-free, Montessori-approved coding system for Early
Years, as well as being a Fellow of the Teach for India programme and holding an Oxford MSc in
Child Development and Education.

There is no charge for this event and lunch will be included (maximum of 2 members of staff per nursery/school).
